My name is Ágnes Szemere. I’m a student of Budapest University of Technology and Economic Sciences and I’m working as well. I’ve always been interested in both business and economy related questions and my favourite hobby of all is language learning. I use English every day, I love French since my childhood, Russian is a hobby and Spanish is the languaeg I want to learn now. Information technology is also in my area of interest.
Manager Shadowing program for me is a challenge where I can test my interpersonal and language skills. I’m glad to shadow a manager from a company which is in the tourism industry but from IT point of view.
It was almost the end of August and I just started a 7-hour-long journey to Prague. The train was going faster and faster and after some hours, there came a time when I could start seeing the beautiful landscape of the Czech Republic.
After being amazed, I faced the first trouble to get to the dormitory without help but with an utterly heavy luggage. Finally, it was solved and it was already Monday. Firtly, I discovered that I understand several words of written Czech language and then, I met my always-smiling boss and a fantastic team, that is able to handle hundreds of hotels on their own. I learnt a lot from them: how to handle clients, work as team regardless that they handled different hotel s and last, but not least: how to treat a boss.
After the two weeks, I felt that I can live in Prague because it is an amazing city with kind people (no matter what stereotypes say) and I simply didn’t want to leave it. Since I came home I miss the team I was working within, the atmosphere of Prague and my daily dumplings as well.
If I will have the opportunity, I will go back the next year again.
