My name is Agnieszka and I am a second year Masters student at the University of Warsaw and a first year Masters student at the Warsaw School of Economics. The major in which I specialize is marketing. Taking into consideration that this is my last year of study, a participation in such internship is the best first step in my professional life.

The internship program, Manager Shadowing Across the Border, will be my first experience in a foreign company. After my international experiences at the University level (I took part in four foreign exchange programs), I would like to learn about international company environment. This internship is one which gives interns serious duties. There is no better way to learn “how to work” than “shadowing” managers in their every day work. It is very exceptional idea of students’ future work development.

The internship “Shadowing Across Border” was one of the best experiences in my professional life. There is no better way to learn than observe managers’ everyday duties and challenges. It definitely helps young managers better understand business market and its entire environment. I had a great opportunity to shadow the CEO and managers form MamaCoffee company. The plan for two weeks was perfectly organized. First week was more like time for observations. I could visit all MamaCoffee cafes in order to discuss with those managers details of their every day work. The knowledge which I gained was about the organizing work in café, human resources management, fair trade products, law regulations and financial aspects of running this kind of business. Second week was focused on a business itself and it’s marketing and PR strategy as well as franchising and potential development. What is more, I could visit MamaCoffee’s own bakery and roastery what was additional advantage from this internship.

The way the café has been running is very complex and it requires skills, knowledge and experiences to do it well. In the end I had to prepare my opinion about the café’s strategy and offer an entry strategy for Poland. Thanks to it, I could combine gained knowledge during the Internship with the knowledge form my University.
