I’m Donát from Budapest, Hungary. Currently I’m doing my master’s degree in Engineering Management at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. I have a BSc degree in Management and Business Administration with specialization in Quality Management. During my studies I had the opportunity to work as a quality intern for companies like Knorr-Bremse Vehicle Systems, GE Healthcare and Robert Bosch Ltd.
In my freetime I like to go out with my friends or just have fun with them while playing card games / board games at someone’s place. At other times I just stay at home and watch a good movie or play computer games. I’m interested in music, information technology and photography as well. Travelling and meeting new people are also amongst my favourite free time activities.
In this little „essay” I will try to summarize the happenings of those two weeks that I spent in Prague, in the Manager Shadowing Across the Border program in August.
I have already been to Prague about 6 years ago and I loved the city very much. So I was very happy when I got notified by BLF (Business Leaders Forum) about the opportunity to participate in the program.
The company I visited is called mamacoffee. They are very special because they are not only like a chain of cafes (they have 6 cafes in Prague) but they also have their own coffee rostery and a bakery. In the rostery they are preparing green coffeebeans for other coffeshops while in the bakery they are producing cookies and cakes for their own cafes.
During the first week we could visit all of the cafes and talked a lot about the concept of the business with Daniel, who is one of the owners of the firm. He wanted us to know how each cafe is operating, because they are not standadized, therefore they differ in a lot of things.
On the second week we had meetings with some of the cafe managers and we could discuss the problems that they are facing. We also had meetings with the responsibles from the desing/marketing and from the finance department. For example we had the chance to take part in the conversations about the desing concepts of the Prague Coffee Festival which is organized by mamacoffee.
I would like to thank this two weeks to the guys at mamacoffee and also to BLF. Besides the professional meetings it was also some kind of a holiday for me with the sightseeings in the afternoons/evenings and with the „rafting” on river Sázava.
