Bio

My name is Kristína Kovácsová. I am a student of Faculty of Management at Comenius University in Bratislava.  Currently I am in the last year of my master study of management with specialization in marketing. I love travelling, getting to know new countries, places and people and also due to which I thought about program “Manager Shadowing Across the Border” as an unforgettable experience. It is not only an extraordinary opportunity to work in an international team, but also to gain the valuable experience for my future career. I like the idea of this program and it´s great that there are companies which are interested in student´s development.

Coffee, which connects people

Two week of exploring the perfection of coffee surrounded by the beautiful corners of Prague. A chance to take a look into the entrepreneurial world of young people, who can transform everything they touch into success through their bright ideas and enthusiasm. That’s also how a job internship can look like.

Thanks to the „Manager Shadowing Across the Border“ project organized, by the Business Leaders Forum, I had a chance to get to know the inspirational managers of the first Czech fairtrade coffee roaster, Mamacoffee. With every passing day, the story of love towards coffee and dedication to bringing better quality and unique atmosphere into coffee houses, was unfolding.

Mamacoffee operates six coffee houses in Prague. We visited each of them and apart from frequent tasting of excellent coffee, we had a diverse program. We learned about the operations of the branch, had a meeting with the branch manager and listened to his vision of expansion and thus gained a comprehensive understanding about managing the branch. Mamacoffee is selling coffee from its own roasting plant, which serves as a gurantee of freshness. They also pay a lot of attention to storage of coffee and the process of roasting, so that the best taste is cherished. During my internship, I could see how excited their employees are about their work. Their enthusiasm and responsible approach to work are reflected in the success of the whole company. It was a big inspiration for me to see how a team of young people tries to make every creative idea come true. A good example of that is the realization of the first successful year of the Prague Coffee Festival, which will continue this year.

It is great that as students, we can get a broader perspective through practical experiences thanks to projects like this one, and that there are still companies, which see work internships as meaningful. Within two weeks, I got to know a beautiful city, great people and at the same time gained a valuable professional experience.
