BIO

I’m Nikolett Almay from Hungary, student of Budapest University of Technology and Economics. I study Leadership and Organization MSc, and I would like to be a manager at a bigger company in the near future. Now I study hard to get my master’s degree, but this isn’t the only milestone to complete for reaching my goal. I also learn languages (nowadays Italian), work for my faculty and do voluntary work. To relax I love to go to art exhibitions, I really love impressionist paintings and the works of Mucha and Klimt, I do sports, badminton and volleyball are my favourites, or simply go to the city and grab a coffee with a friend. When I read about this shadowing program, I immediately knew that this would absolutely fit to me. I have already had the opportunity to work for a subsidiary of a large multinational company as an intern, but I have always wanted to get an insight to the everyday life of the headquarters of a large company. And how to do it, if not through the eye of a manager.

Feedback

The two weeks I have spent at Microsoft Czech Republic were full of new experiences. I had the opportunity to learn in practice from the colleagues, our mentor and the other interns. Our main task was to collect information about all the CSR related activities done by the Microsoft subsidiary in our home country and put it in the form of a report. This seemed a big job for the first sight, but we got great materials from the subsidiary, plus we were two from Hungary, so we could work as a team. Beyond preparing the report we had the chance to get to know the company better, attend conference calls, and attend a conference on the topic of data protection, one of the most important issues in the field today.

I’m very grateful that I could participate in this program, and got to know so many great people in Prague. I have learned a lot on teamwork, it was interesting to work in an international environment, plus it was very motivating to work on a task, the outcome of which was important and useful for the company. Based on all these I can imagine working for a company like Microsoft after graduation.
