Press Release

Vodafone Foundation, as part of its assistance program the Flash, invited the general public to “Send contribution in the form of DMS SOSUKRAJINA to 87777 and we will double your help.” The aim was to raise funds to help victims and their families of Majdan incident. The foundation donated a one-time grant of 200,000 CZK to support People in Need and its collective account, Help Ukraine. The Foundation also doubled the amount sent from DMS donors to Vodafone for collection of humanitarian organizations like People in Need, Caritas and MSF. The price of a DMS is 30 CZK. Call Vodafone Foundation paid for the posts received until Sunday, 2nd March 2014, up to the maximum of 250,000 CZK.

Donors can send sms DMS SOSUKRAJINA to number 87777.

The Flash program aims to motivate Vodafone to be a greater solidarity in events of serious humanitarian disasters. Year 2010, in its premiere phase, the program already helped to significantly increase the number of DMS sent to humanitarian organizations during the floods in Czech Republic. During the famine in the “Horn of Africa” region, number of DMS sent increased more than tenfold within the selected period of time. The immediate humanitarian aid to the Philippines was also managed through DMS campaign to raise financial assistance amounting almost one million CZK, only among Vodafone customers. The foundation doubled the collected amount and added another lump sum of 500,000 CZK. The price of a DMS is 30 CZK, and DMS from Vodafone Foundation was added for each additional 30 CZK.
